A method for determining the amount of milk milked from a cow by milking is to produce a continuous flow of milk (28) from a cow and to form individual doses of milk (28) from this flow. The formation of the individual doses of milk (28) in the device for carrying out this method is achieved by generating the individual doses of milk (28) corresponding to the predetermined flow rate of milk (28) with the aid of a milk counter (I ) housed milk flow sensor (24), whereby a correction in the formation of the individual doses of milk (28) is introduced by means of a sensor (15) for the selection of individual milk doses, which characterizes a dynamic measurement error. Then the individual doses of milk (28), taking into account the properties of the milk (28) and the maximum sensitivity of the counter (I), are optimal doses of optimal milk doses by means of a sensor (33) arranged in an outlet chamber (23) of the counter (I) of the milk (28), whereby a correction is introduced into the determination of the opposed doses of the milk (28) with the aid of a sensor (16) for the summation of optimal milk doses, which characterizes a static measurement error, whereupon the optimal doses of the milk (28 ) are summed by means of a computing unit (19).
