Abstract

In order to promote the development of surfactants in petroleum industry, this book describes the applications of surfactants in various production stages of oil fields in detail. The book is divided into 7 chapters. Chapter 1 begins with a basic introduction of surfactants. Chapter 2 describes the applications of surfactants in drilling. Surfactants play an important role in safe drilling and prevention of drilling accidents. Chapter 3 introduces the applications of surfactants in oil and water well treatment, including the applications of surfactants in profile control, water-blocking, acid fracturing and wax removal. Chapter 4 introduces the applications of surfactants in chemical flooding, and discusses the applications of surfactants in one component flooding, binary flooding, ASP flooding and foam composite flooding. Chapter 5 introduces the applications of surfactants in emulsification of crude oil, and discusses the properties and synthetic methods of surfactants as demulsifiers. Chapter 6 explains the application of surfactants in oilfield wastewater treatment. Because sulfonate surfactants are the most commonly and widely used surfactants in oil fields, the preparation and application of sulfonate surfactants are described in Chapter 7, and the preparation methods of four special sulfonate surfactants are introduced in detail as well.

This book contains all aspects of surfactant applications, which has a wide range of knowledge, and each chapter of this book contains examples in oilfield applications, combining theory with practice. This book covers both basic knowledge and some cutting-edge knowledge. The content is clearly structured and the difficulty of the book is from shallow to deep. It can be used both as a teaching reference book for teachers and students of petroleum engineering, and a reference for professionals in applied chemistry and oil field development.
